About the Event
In 2026, Artificial Intelligence is no longer a future prospect in mental health—it’s here. But as we deploy these algorithms across the NHS and beyond, we face an urgent question: Whose “truth” is the AI learning?
Most mental health AI is trained on clinical data that excludes the very people it’s meant to serve. When we use algorithms to “standardise” care, we risk automating the exclusion of marginalised voices. Join us, the OHT Mental Health Network, for a virtual coffee on why we must rethink the relationship between AI, Data, and Equity. ☕
We’ll dive into:
The Training Gap: How AI inherits the biases of “WEIRD” (Western, Educated, Industrialised, Rich, Democratic) data and why that breaks for everyone else.
Algorithmic Inclusion: Moving beyond generic bots to inclusive-by-design AI that respects diverse social, cultural and linguistic backgrounds and contexts. mobility.
The N=1 AI Blueprint: Shifting the “ground truth” from flawed clinical labels to individual baselines using multimodal technology (e.g. voice and video for stress detection).
The future of mental health tech isn’t a “Robo-Therapist” that stereotypes you. It might be an AI co-pilot that values who you are over what a checklist says.
Grab a coffee or lunch, pull up a chair, turn on your camera and join in for a virtual coffee discussion
