About the Event

This event is in partnership with DHEZ Academic at the University of Bradford

Purpose of the workshop:

To learn about the work of the West Yorkshire Mobile Cancer Care Unit: a joint project between the cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow and Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

Mobile Cancer Care Unit:

This is a truck (approx. 6 car parking widths) which has been kitted with 4 treatment chairs to provide chemotherapy to people nearer their homes. It is maintained by Hope for Tomorrow and is supported by a Nurses’ Support Vehicle which takes the nursing teams to where the MCCU is going to located for the day e.g. supermarket car park.

Our workshop will tell the story of how the MCCU came to be and how the people involved in its development made this work: changing the way that cancer care can be delivered.

Accessibility

We’ve been awarded a Fairer Tech grant from doteveryone to make our events more accessible (woop woop!). If for any reason there are barriers to engaging in the community we invite anyone to apply for up to £30* per person per event to cover personal costs to improve this. The money can cover just about anything, including but not limited to child/other care, taxis if you’re not able-bodied, trains if you live out in the countryside, a live captioner, recording of the event or loss of earnings if you have a side job along your studies. Who are we to judge?! If you feel it’s a barrier, we agree too.

Simply fill out this VERY SHORT form and we’ll confirm the expense.
