OHT Oxford x Unprescribed Stories: Bringing creativity to healthcare

Time & Location

30 apr. 2026 17:00 – 19:00

Branca Bar, 111 Walton St, Oxford, OX2 6AJ, UK

About the Event

In a world where being healthy is often characterised by bright green smoothies, things to do with your gut microbiome, and a dreaded run club, what role does art have to play? Daisy Fancourt, Professor of Psychobiology and Epidemiology at University College London, believes that art can help us live longer – and even save lives. In her new book, Fancourt draws on ground-breaking research in neuroscience, psychology, immunology, physiology, behavioural science and epidemiology, as well as inspiring true stories of people who have experienced radical changes in their health, to empower readers to improve their own health through the arts.

This OHT Oxford event will be a relaxed book club session to discuss: Daisy Fancourt's Art Cure: The Science of How the Arts Transform Our Health.

.

Feel free to read the book, or just come for the conversations sparked from it (we're no pressure here). This will be in collab with OHT Unprescribed Stories, our new space for people to reflect on healthtech using ‘unprescribed stories’ like books, films, music, TV shows, and art.

The schedule:

5pm - 5:15pm: time to order a drink and say hello to everyone

5:15pm - 6:15pm: discussion of the book Art Cure

6:15pm - 6:30pm: a lil time for networking/mingling 👀

A note from OHT Oxford

Drinks and snacks are buy-your-own, and there's no pressure to order if you’d rather not. Feel free to get in touch with

Brandy or Zoya in advance, and let us know if we can do anything to make the event more accessible and welcoming (we know walking into a space of new faces isn’t always easy). The OHT Accessibility Fund can cover personal costs that might alleviate barriers to participating.
