AI has given you a beautifully written answer. Now comes the awkward bit: working out whether it’s actually any good.

About the event

Perhaps you’re trying Copilot to draft an email, summarise information or get a first version of something onto the page. It could save you time, but what should you check before using the result? And what information should you keep out of the prompt in the first place?

This practical workshop is for people working in health and care who are starting to explore AI tools and would like a little help making those calls.

Through a series of events exploring AI in health and care, the OHT West Yorkshire team has brought together five things to consider when using these tools: Think, Recognise, Understand, Stay Safe and Take Control, or TRUST for short.

We’ll use these to work through an everyday workplace example together, looking at what AI produces, what it misses and what we’d check before using it. There’ll be space to compare experiences and ask the questions you haven’t had a chance to ask elsewhere.

You’ll practise how to:

  • Spot answers that sound convincing but need checking.

  • Notice missing perspectives, assumptions and possible bias.

  • Think through what information is appropriate to put into an AI tool.

  • Improve a prompt and assess whether the new answer is actually better.

  • Decide when to use an output, check it further or leave it alone.

Who’s it for?

People working across health and care who are curious about using AI for everyday tasks, particularly those getting started or unsure how to assess the results. You don’t need technical knowledge or previous experience.

The focus is everyday work, rather than using AI to make clinical decisions.

Bring your questions, including the sceptical ones!! There’s plenty worth questioning.
