OHT Better HealthTech by Design

We believe that health technologies should serve human needs and connections in order to promote healing. Human-centred design (HCD) practice has developed over decades to embed human needs into tech development. This specialist network is intended to support the integration of HCD practices into healthtech. We aim to do this by connecting clinicians, technologists, designers, academics, patients, those with lived experience and other interested parties.

Ethical, equitable, fit-for-purpose healthtech products are clinically-proven, useful, usable and accessible. They enhance the vital human relationships between clinicians and patients. Human-centred approaches help create technologies that respect the human relationships at the heart of healthcare.

These approaches aren't used consistently in healthtech development. This network creates opportunities to share skills and ways of working that put humans first in health technology.
