OHT Dubai: Chai Chats; The human side of health tech

For our next Community Chai Chat, we’re delighted to welcome Miguel Musu for a conversation about health innovation, unexpected career paths, and finding your people along the way.

Miguel’s journey into HealthTech has been anything but conventional. He started out in finance before switching gears entirely and returning to university to study Physiotherapy just as COVID hit.

Through his clinical training and work as a physiotherapist, Miguel developed a growing interest in how technology can improve healthcare, eventually leading him to conduct research in remote patient monitoring. That interest later opened the door to an opportunity with MedTech World, where he was exposed to the wider startup and venture ecosystem and gained a closer look at how innovation, investment, and healthcare come together.

Today, he balances clinical work with his role at a local innovation hub in Malta, helping shape a thriving startup ecosystem across sectors, including HealthTech.

During our conversation, we’ll explore what’s happening across the UAE’s health innovation ecosystem, the conversations and trends Miguel encountered through MedTech World, what he learned from working within the region, and how an unexpected path ultimately brought him to OHT.
